Steven & Sarah - Whalton Village Hall Wedding, Northumberland Photographer
"Wow!!!!!! We’ve got our photos and have just spent the last hour and a bit looking at them! We just LOVE LOVE LOVE them! Thank you so so much - I can’t tell you how perfect they are! They totally capture the day and have brought back so many memories of the bits we had forgotten! Thank you thank you thank you! We are so pleased we stumbled across you on the internet! We really are delighted!"
Flowers, flowers, flowers. This one was all about the flowers. Sarah and Steven got married in May when so much is in bloom. Sarah's mum's house was covered in Wisteria and Helen, their florist did an incredible job with all the flowers.
I loved how beautifully perfect, yet relaxed and fun everything was getting ready. Sarah's mum made cups of tea and walked around in her wedding outfit topped with an apron and a blouse, and her slippers on. There was plenty of chat and laughter, which is how it should be! With two of her bridesmaids being pregnant, Sarah did a great job finding coral dresses to flatter all three of her gorgeous ladies. Incidentally, I have never been to a wedding with so many pregnant ladies! I think I counted 6?! And four or five birthdays also celebrated at the reception with a balloon and a card for each.
They tied the knot in the gorgeous little Northumberland village of Whalton. Their ceremony was in the little church there, St Mary Magdalene's church. A special detail was that they had three readings. The first, they chose together. The second, Sarah chose and it was a surprise to Steven until it was read. The third was chosen by Steven and Sarah did not know what it would be until it was read. Thankfully, they didn't choose the same readings!
They and their guests walked 'round the corner to Whalton Village Hall for their reception. It's rare that I include many group shots in these blog posts, as they are often quite formal and not the most exciting part of the wedding day. However, Sarah and Steven managed to get permission from the farmer who owns the field behind Whalton Village Hall to have their group photographs in the field. And they were keen to have a bit of fun amongst the more serious photographs. This was not out of character - the whole day was full of fun and laughter. Most of the day was spent outside the hall as it was gorgeous weather - Sarah and Steven had cunningly hired a few hay bales for added seating outside the hall which turned out to be a godsend.
We walked to a couple of locations within the village for photographs and were joined by a horse for a few of them...
Sarah and Steven had a hog roast dinner, and to end the day had a ceilidh - I loved that they tried to keep everything fairly local to Northumberland (even the gifts Sarah gave her bridesmaids were from a local company) with a few nods to Scotland and their Scottish heritage - thistles, a ceilidh band, and pipers.
All their planning and hard work preparing and making things paid off big time. If you like a handmade, personal wedding, you'll love this one!
