Simon & Lisa - Dundee and Kilconquhar Castle Estate wedding
"We got our photos today - thank you! We spent ages looking through and laughing a lot at them! We can't thank you enough for capturing everything so well - we couldn't be happier. Our wedding photos are stunning." - Lisa
Man alive. This wedding was so beautiful, I could hardly believe it.
Simon and Lisa got married one gorgeous day in May. Lisa got ready at a friend's house which was just perfect. She chose a gorgeously simple yet elegant dress which had delicate flowy edges which I really enjoyed capturing as she moved and danced.
They got married in a wonderful emotional ceremony at Central Baptist Church in Dundee. They were surrounded by loving and supportive friends and family - a favourite moment for me was hearing a couple of their friends pray for them during their service - they were specific and encouraging prayers uplifting them each as individuals and their marriage. What a blessing!
After some time greeting their guests, catching up with old friends, and having confetti thrown at them from a height, Simon and Lisa directed me to Magdalen Green, which is close to where Lisa lived when she was in Dundee. Perfect time of year for this gorgeous little place - the cherry trees were blossoming. They enjoyed some prosecco and haribo sweets courtesy of their driver and we skilfully avoided the crowds of people around the bandstand while still getting the photos we wanted there. Then we drove to their reception at Kilconquhar Castle Estate in Fife - I'd never been there, but it's not too far from a more familiar St Andrews.
There was a large Scottish element to the wedding (Simon is Scottish and they met in Dundee) with the men wearing kilts and the evening celebrations consisting of a ceilidh led by Jiggered. There were also gorgeous cars, gorgeous dresses, gorgeous flowers provided by Flowers at Dawn, 5 to 6 speeches, a three tier cake, each tier made by a guest and assembled on arrival, and a lovely relaxed atmosphere with lawn games and a marquee to hold the evening events.
A highlight of the day was their first dance - you'll see in the pictures that they just had a really good time dancing together. It encompassed the day really - fun, relaxed and full of love.
I struggled to choose which photos to share - I hope these show what an amazing wedding day Simon and Lisa had!
Get in touch if you're getting married next year (or even 2020!) and would like to chat photography - I'd love to hear from you
