This wedding was so special. There was something about it that can not be described. A peaceful joy.
Rachel got ready with her maids at her family home. Her grandmother, who couldn't make it to the wedding joined us via Skype. They were also able to watch the ceremony, which was amazing. Rachel wore a gorgeous dress, the first she tried on, and her other grandmother's veil, a beautiful cathedral length veil.
Colin and Rachel got married at Carrubbers Christian Centre on Edinburgh's Royal Mile, which is the place where they met. I loved this place so much - it, of course, has personal ties, as I went to church here for eight years, but it is also so bright and an absolute joy to photograph special people in. Their reception was at Houston House Hotel in Livingston, a MacDonald Hotel with incredible grounds.
Their wedding was so full of joy and was visibly full of emotion. It was wonderful to watch two friends get married, and also to "work" with my husband, who was Colin's best man. I loved that they were keen to have a second set of couple photographs later on in the day as the sun began to set - the light was glorious and the pictures we got then are some of my favourites from their wedding day. Carrubbers folk are particularly good at a ceilidh, and this wedding day set the stage to lots of great fun and dancing.
